The official e-ticketing portal of Indian Railways, IRCTC has launched the fresh and new website named IRCTC Next Generation website. It sports cleaner and more updated look with various bells and whistles. Here are some of the cool features of IRCTC Next Generation website –
Design – Well, the design of the website is not slickest of all but it is surely a great move, just like moving from Garib Rath to Humsafar rakes. Anyways, the new website of IRCTC has got cleaner interface with clear range of options. However, the weightage of fonts and iconography could be improved further, but it is still a good upgrade.
No need to login – Now you no longer have to search the mail for IRCTC login information to use its services. At least, you don’t need login to browse the trains. It keeps the booking interface ahead. So, it requires you to login to IRCTC only when you are going to book tickets and make payment.
No more confusions or waiting – The CNF Probability is perhaps most vital feature for the passengers in IRCTC Next Generation website. With this new feature, you will learn about the odds of whether waiting tickets would be confirmed. To predict the availability of seats, IRCTC uses historical information of same train ran on same day last year to figure out if waiting ticket would be confirmed.
VIKALP Option – For the passengers, it is always advised to plan journey in advance. In case you cannot book ticket in any specific train, you can go to IRCTC website which offers new feature which suggests other trains for same destination. VIKALP option is the feature to help you find alternate trains on same route and to allow confirmed seats. It is a very handy and convenient feature for the passengers.
Tatkal Booking Timing – If you want to book Tatkal train ticket but don’t know about the timings, look at IRCTC website. No last moment panicking! According to the IRCTC website, you can book tatkal tickets online at least 24 hours before the date of journey. The tatkal window opens at 10am for AC class and 11am for non-AC class.
Keep all of the important documents handy while booking tatkal tickets, including Aadhar or others. IRCTC offers tatkal ticket booking on first come first serve basis. So, it is always better to keep all the vital documents handy.
Along with it, you can also book OLA cab on IRCTC website around 7 days before date of journey. So, you no longer have to depend on taxi mafias charging overly at the station.
Has IRCTC Website failed to impress passengers?
No matter how easy ticket booking has become with the arrival of next generation website of IRCTC NGET, there are still many customers who took a dig at social media and calling it ‘not so user-friendly’ and telling that the last website was much better than recent one.
A user named Karan Chahar says, “I live in Europe and this new portal is not opening here. It is limited to India only.” A personality development trainer, Pradyumna K.P. says, “I couldn’t find booking history. In fact I haven’t got SMS notification after booking tickets.” Eswar Kanchurmurthi, Duvvda Railway Users’ Association secretary says, “It is also not that mobile-friendly.”
